Dwight Bobble Head

This is THE famous Dwight K. Schrewt bobble head! Definitely not as good as the one on the show, but good enough to put Cheyenne into hysterics! I gave it to Cheyenne for her birthday this year! You should have seen the look on her face, it was priceless. I said I would post a picture of it a while ago, but never got around to it. So here it is! The one and only! You can read more about it in my entry for Cheyennes birthday, it was really funny. I think I wrote it in February, but I'm not sure. I just Know that's when her birthday was.

Woman's Conference Pictures

I mentioned in one of my previous entries that I went to woman's conference with my mom last month. These are just a handful of pictures that I was able to capture with my dumb camera. I would have taken more if I could. The two small pictures on the left (by the way you can click on them to see them closer) was on my very last day in Utah. My mom had already gone home but i wanted to stay one more day with Julia, so Julia, her roommate Thalia, and I all got dressed up in Julia's cloths and went to a friends wedding in salt lake that evening. I finally gave up on the pictures and hope to get some from Julia, But these are two of the ones you can actually see. we had a ton of fun!

You might have already noticed, I am standing with John Bytheway in the next picture! That was definitely one of my highlights of woman's conference was getting a picture with him haha. I still haven't showered since!

All of the other pictures were from the first day when Julia met us at a restaurant right when we got into town. She was all excited to show us her new fancy car, so we joked that the red one up there was is it! i don't know if I could ever see Julia caught dead in something like that! Me on the other hand, that's a different story...

Also i mentioned that we had gotten together with all of our Fort Lauderdale buddies one night. so the top right picture is all of us. That had to have been the best part of the whole trip for me. We laughed sooo much that night!

Laurens Birthday

Sorry about the sepia pictures. My camera was really dumb and would only work if we set it to sepia! Grrr, i was so close to throwing it in the ocean! okay fine I wasn't, but I fantasized it as a a good idea!
So this was my friend Lauren Murry's 19th birthday. I feel so young when I say that because I'm only 16!most of my friends are older than me, in fact every single one of those people in those pictures are older than me accept for Jessica, and Cheyenne. Anyway, it was a lot of fun. It had been a while since I had hung out with them, so it was nice to finally get together again.
We fooled around in the water, ate cupcakes, and buried each other, What more can you ask for!

This must have been last moth.

Girls Camp '09

These are just some pictures from girls camp. it was actually during spring break, but I came accross them and decided I would put them on my blog. Plus I figured out how to make these amazing collages, and I can fit way more pictures on at the same time.
It was a really good experience. It always gets better every year! I didnt have as much fun as I have in past years, but I feel like it was the best of my learning experiences so far! This year I was a YCL (youth camp leader), so instead of going and doing whatever I want, I was constantly following around my girls. so you can imagine how much fun that might be, but at the same time I learned a lot of leadership skills, and by the end the week i felt an amazing love for each and every one of those girls. Anyway thats just a little something. Enjoy the pictures.

Hello Hello

Hey, everyone. i guess its about time i wrote something new.
Ive done a lot lately and have tons planned for the summer.

I went up to woman's conference last month with mom. that was so cool. I encourage all woman to do it at least once. it was so much fun to because i got to stay with my dear friend Julia who is going to school at BYU. i got to see her new crazy student life, and look forward to that hopefully being me soon. I think i want to go to BYU-I. Ideally BYU-H would be absolutely amazing, but i think the one in Rexburg would be best for me. i can always transfer for a semester too. Anyway, while i was there, i ran into a bunch of friends that are from Fort Lauderdale. it was so cool. we decided to have a get-together with all of them and all of us went out for dinner one night. That was so much fun. I got to see two old elders that served in my ward. Hah! While i was there my official nickname had become "jail bait". Julia had threatened me by telling me she had set me up on my first date with this guy named Kevin. NO WAY!! no blind dates for me, thank you very much.I was horrified when i found out he was almost 26 years old! haha, it was pretty funny, and of course, she was only joking! the whole time we tried to see how long we could go for before i was forced to give my actual age. we did pretty good, and no one really new until the very last night when i had to reveal it to 3 different people. that was so embarrassing!

last night we had a fun family home evening with the Christensen's. they have such a neat family, i really like them. The lesson was to act out the good Samaritan. i got to be a thief with one of the other little girls (i cant remember her name), i think we were good thief's if i do say so myself. Then later on in the night i got invited by one of the other little girls to be a part of their special fashion show! I think it was the best fashion show Ive ever been in! they had some fun costumes so we all got dressed up and made up some good names to go with ourselves. we came up with "the medieval disaster", since she was wearing this medieval costume and then random other stuff all over. the there was "princess wak-o" that was Tanisha who put together a strange form of a princess costume. There was "sparkle boy", he was their little 2 year old boy who insisted that he be a part too, so he got this great sparkly costume! then we had "Bon-qui-qui the drama queen" who went out and put on a good show with her "shell" phone that was actually a shell. then of course i went out with something like a mutated form of a bunny rabbit costume and i was called "bunny foo foo". sierra was our great announcer with her plastic microphone.
the Christensen's insisted that we do our famous Barbara Manatee skit that we did at girls camp and EFY. so we did. we will have to record it sometime to remember, anyway its really funny, and we has a good night.

so, this summer i am sooooo excited! my plan starts on June 5th when i have youth conference. apparently they have something really cool planned for us this year. then right after youth conference i plan to go to new york with Jessica, Cheyenne, and Bridian Mortensen. we will stay with some of Jessica's family, and go see a Broadway show! then ill fly from there to Washington where i get to see my cousin at her graduation and BBQ. Then ill drive back with my grandparents to Victoria where ill stay with them until august because i go to EFY at BYU with Susan. and then after that Susan is taking me river rafting with some of her family. I'm not sure where they have that planned, but where ever it is, i am so excited. it has been so fun having these flight benefits. we probably wont have them for very much longer, so I'm glad to get a good use out of them this summer.

Nnyway, i hope that was an okay amount to write.Ii really need to go now, I have a day of school to get ready for.Ill make sure to update more later.

Here is a little something to show you all that im still alive, i just havent had the writing urge in me lately...

I am active in water polo right now, infact we have a game today. Im really excited, i havent been able stop thinking about it all week. I am the one and only goal keeper which i quite enjoy! i feel like i have a very important role on the team. it was so exciting... i made the news paper the second game we had. it said something like nine shots saved and none in.. i dont really know but i put it in my journal! We won that game 11 to nothing. I cant wait to see how well i and my team do today, practice was really good. i saved almost every shot on goal. it was so exciting!

I Got Hit!

Today i got hit by a car. Haha, okay well maybe not quite so extreme, but my foot got ran over by a car. it was freaky! it all happened within seconds. i had started crossing the street and i looked down at my iPod for a second when i heard the guy behind me say something loud but i didn't quite hear, so i looked back at him, and in that second i smacked into this big white van and it ran over my left foot! It really hurt! I was so confused though! everything happened so fast, i was still trying to register what had all happened while the guy driving behind him was trying to talk to me, asking me if i got his licence plate number, and the guy behind me was asking if i was okay. I probably looked silly not saying anything the first few times, but finally everything registered and i responded. I really was not concerned about getting his licence plate number, i was worried about my foot. it really hurt, but i felt around and it didn't seem like anything was broken. So i got up and hobbled across the road as fast as i could with the few seconds i had left. Anyway, I'm fine now, that was about 2 hours ago. My foot still hurts and ill probably have a bruise tomorrow, right now i just have a few red spots where it hurts but thank goodness it wasn't any worse. i cant imagine the results that could have come with that. foot injuries could be really bad. That was the first thing i thought when it got hit, how blessed i was that it wasn't any worse. The thing that confused me though was that the guy drove away. he didn't even stay or ask if i was okay.
Anyway, I even have tire marks on my foot and leg to prove it. Dad thought it was pretty funny. I tried washing it off but it won't come off. I think its pretty cool.

The Entertainer

For anyone who doesn't know Bert... he is our little cockatoo friend that we are baby sitting for the Prows's. If your following Tanisha's blog, you probably know all about him! She might have also mentioned that he is actually a she. We all found out far too long after the fact, and now the name Bert is stuck. We try calling him Berta, but that's too hard. So our poor friend the girl bird will probably struggle with gender issues for the rest of his life (there i go again calling her a he).
Anyway, about Bert. That little bird is sooo funny. Most times you would never even know he was there. He is so sweet. He just sits, always on his best behavior. His favorite thing is when you scratch his head. The moment you put your hand anywhere close to his face, his head falls to his feet, almost as if sudden death has struck him or something. its really funny. or when you go to give him a kiss, he shoves his face into your lips faster than you can make the puckering sound. so i said most of the time we never know he is there... we sometimes, usually on random moments like this afternoon, he will go into singing and talking mode. His favorite things to do are whistle at you like you are the most beautiful thing he has ever seen, or the kind of whistle that you would use to get someones attention. He also does a few whistles that belong to other birds that he has claimed for his own. its quite funny. there is a bird that always makes this loud and distinctive whistle that i recognized the moment i heard Bert do it. it was funny, and he loves doing it. Then he has his little chirps, but they aren't annoying, Most sounds that come from his mouth are very melodic. Our most favorite whistle of all times that he does, and its not very often, is the beginning of "We Thank Thee oh God for a Prophet" So funny! I almost died when i heard it for the first time, it was so funny. Anyway, he entertained us for about half an hour with his music this afternoon. I noticed he likes to mix and match some of the sounds that he has with others.

Tonight i did homework while i ate dinner, that's hard. Anyway, i was working on a problem for math and i wasn't paying attention to my food, when all of a sudden sierra started laughing hysterically! I looked up at my food and to my surprise found Bert standing right in the middle of my pizza looking up at me with his big beady eyes. All he knew was that he wanted to go on my shoulder, and i was neglecting to give him any attention. He probably also liked the feeling of the hot squishiness beneath his feet, but besides that, really didn't see what the big deal was. Hah, it was really funny, i wanted to get a picture but no one new where the camera was, and i was starting to get nervous that he wouldn't be the only thing on my pizza, i would have hated for his poo to get comfortable as well.

Well it is late. I don't have seminary tomorrow, but i do have school, so i really ought to hit the sack. Night

Last Week

Last week was crazy! most of it i spent helping my dad finish a project (building a fence) at work so that he could go to the temple with mom for valentines day. I cant believe I'm actually saying this, but looking back on it, i had fun! Yes i am now sore from tough work of a few long days, and yes it was very stressful not getting any school work done, but it was fun spending time with my dad. Its not exactly every little girls dream of working construction, but i quite enjoyed learning new skills, spending quality time with my dad (any time is better than no time), and giving some entertainment to the workers across the street who apparently have never seen a girl working construction. I got to joke around with Cheyenne one day who didn't seem so believe me that i got leprosy all over my hands from painting. she said it was just the paint. I told her i didn't know how it could possibly be "just paint", if i was in such agony and horrible pain. She didn't buy it, but it was fun while it lasted. After that, i drove her crazy by singing happy birthday over and over again even, even though her birthday had already past 2 days before. I promised i would stop singing to her after her birthday present from me came. She thought i was kidding, and didn't like the sound of it, in her mind i would never stop singing. What she didn't know was i had the most amazing gift for her that was waiting in the mail.

Mom and I, the night before Cheyennes birthday, bought her a Dwight Schrute bobble head! For any of you who don't know, Cheyenne and I are HUGE fans of "The Office". We have so often been in hysterics laughing our heads off while watching that show. We LOVE it! We have decided that Jim and Dwight together are our most favorite characters on the show. Anyway, on one of the episodes, Dwight got a "Dwight Schrute Bobble Head" for Christmas from his secret love. We just laughed and laughed at how hideous it was and how much he loved it. Then we thought of how funny it was to actually have a Dwight Schrute bobble head of our own. So that's exactly what i got her!
I wish the whole world could have been there to see her reaction! I don't think she has ever been so surprised in her whole life, or at least I have never seen her that surprised before! The moment she saw the bobble head, her mouth just dropped. She gave the loudest gasp, and then threw her head back laughing in hysterics! It was sooooooo funny. I wish the whole world was there to witness her reaction. It was exactly what she never would have expected! It's too bad i didn't get it on video or camera. I think also the card that we made her read before she opened it had a lot to do with her shock. It read: Warning! Open cautiously. May cause sudden blindness, nausea, or heart attack. Also may result in night mares. Happy Birthday
From that she was expecting something like a viper or snake to pop out at her! so it really added to the suspense and surprise! anyway, now we have a Dwight Schrute bubble head sitting on our shelf collecting dust. Our family really isn't the niknac type, but this one comes with an awesome story and memory, so it wont be going anywhere too soon.

Sierras gift from me didn't exactly work out the same way (her birthday is the day after Cheyennes). I told her i would take her to Susans school play that she worked really hard to put together. I wanted to support Susan and she was so excited that i was coming. I thought i would bring sierra along too. Anyway, Sierra was really excited about it, but then at last minute decided she didn't want to go because she would rather go on the computer with Tanisha! Haha, she is such a stinker! Oh well, at least she got what she wanted for her birthday. Mom took her out for dinner. I'm glad, its good for sierra, plus that's what she said she wanted, a mommy daughter date.

I don't really remember what else all happened last week, but I do remember that church yesterday was great! I love Sunday, it is my favorite day of the week. Without fail it is always the most uplifting day when i get the most spiritual nutrition. I just love young woman's! I hate to think that i will be out of there in 2 years! last night i thought about it and almost started to cry! i have learned and grown so much in young womans. The spirit can always be felt so strong between the girls and our leaders. I always go away feeling inspired and wanting to be a better person. I don't know what i would do without young womans. I have so many good memories, and bonds that i have created with the girls. I feel so much love for those girls. they are some of my best friends. i have had to learn to tolerate behaviors that i thought would be impossible, and by doing that, i have learned so much about them that has strengthened me as a friend and a person. I look back, and i would never trade those rough and frustrating times for the world! because of them, it has made me who i am, a stronger person.

Anyway, thinking about all of this puts me to tears so i better stop, but to sum it all up, my week was great! I had fun, i learned a lot, and i feel closer to my heavenly father.

Soccer is over

Soccer is over. I'm sad because i had so much fun, its my favorite sport. But at the same time I'm also happy because now i get to play water polo! Tanisha says she is sad that I'm playing water polo because now i wont come home with stinky arm pits anymore... Sorry t-she (Tanisha's nickname). Hehe, anyway, my team was so fun this year! I loved my soccer coach, she always said the most inspiring things all the time. I did get off onto a silly bad start with her for some reason, but the moment she found out i was "Mormon" she was my best friend. Hah, it was great, better than her hating me more. I was really nervous to tell her when it came up, but she responded opposite than i had even expected. I was amazed at the respect that she all of a sudden had for me. i noticed she would hesitate when she was about to swear or say something that could be unkind or crude, and then would always apologize to me afterwards. i never even did or said anything, i was just myself, and she loved me! she told me a few times in the car how she thought i was special and how the other girls really need me, and we could use more girls like me. Haha i didn't even do anything, like i said i was just myself. i noticed she was always watching and observing me, which is fine, but it made me realize how important it is to behave appropriately because i was her representative of the church.

Anyway, we had an all around great year, we won just as many games as we lost, which is amazing compared to last year, our record was 3 to a billion losses, but we didn't have good coaches. I feel like i really learned allot about soccer this year, and i hope next year i will be able to learn even more!

Mirian

Here is Mirian the great creator, might as well give her some more credit.
Posted by Picasa

Mirians Magnificent Masterpiece

For mutual we went over to Mirian Zanattas house and learned a really good recipe that she learned in Brazil. We all loved it! I loved it! Its great because it is very good for you and doesn't take very long to put together. The most amazing part of the whole thing was Iesha (in pink), she hates vegetables and this meal was all vegetables with some fish, but she absolutely loved it! she was sad that she had already eaten before she came because she wanted to finish it but was too full.
We asked Mirian if she had a name for it and she said she didn't, so i came up with a name for it, and that is Mirians Magnificent Masterpiece.
For anyone that might be interested in this "Mirians Magnificent Masterpiece", here is the recipe:

-Carrots
-Celery
-Red Peppers
-Green Peppers
-White Onion
-Colly Flower
-Spinach
-Broccoli
-Egg Plant
-Zucchini
-Pene Noodles
-Sesame Seeds
-Curry Powder
-Ginger Powder
-Garlic Powder
-Soy Sauce
-Olive Oil
-Fish: Tilapia

Any other vegetables that you want its fine to add, this is just what we had to work with. Cut all vegetables and fish into bite size proportions. Pre-cook the pene noodles. Pile all vegetables on one side of a large sheet of tin foil in order of what takes longer to cook and what doesn't, for example: Colly flower and broccoli on bottom, and spinach on top. after all vegetables and fish are on, seasoning goes on last. (you can always add salt after its cooked, but the soy sauce is pretty salty). The more olive oil and soy sauce the better. Mirian says its best when its wet, and it cooks better too. Add however much seasoning you desire. Then, fold the other side of the tin foil over the top and seal all sides tightly by folding them. it is cooked in a frying pan for 7 minutes, and when it puffs up-if its sealed properly-it is most likely done. Try it, its good!

Floridas Winter Wonderland

Hallelujah! The cold front is gone!! we had about a week of intense freezing weather for us Floridians. I have gotten allot of comments about not being a true Canadian, but the truth is, after two years of the tropical Floridian heat, you would think that a girl would be acclimated by now. Canada can keep its cold winters, I'm quite enjoying my warm winter.

The temperature dropped down to 4 degrees Celsius on the coldest day, that would be about 39 degrees Fahrenheit for those of you who don't understand my language. On that particular day i caught mom turning on the oven with its door open just to heat up the house. and as i was laughing at the situation, she confessed that she had actually blow dried her already dried hair just to try and soak in a little extra warmth. I find it rather hilarious how pathetic our state of "freezing" was. All week i saw people in scarves, gloves, big sweaters, jackets and hats trying to keep warm (i admit i was one of those glove/large sweater wearers), it was funny looking around at the people in there state of climate shock, i think its good for us all to have a tiny taste of northern winter at least once a year. You know, i really really like Florida. Its funny that i say that too, because i used to hate it. it was way too hot, but now that I'm used to it i really like the weather. its so nice to have at least a month or two of cool weather, whereas the poor folks in places like Mexico (my grandparents) go through a whole year without getting any heat relief, even on through the next year. luckily for them they have air conditioning so at least they can keep a comfortable temperature in their house.

I cant really say our seasons here are anything like the incredible, colorful seasons of Colorado, but i have really come to appreciate a small change in season here and there. we have our rainy season, or dry and hot season, our cool season, the season where plants and flowers are at their best, and even then, Iv'e seen other plants at their best in a completely different season. I guess you learn to love where ever you are. Oh, and the beach! that has to be the biggest bonus about where we live right now. I can only say that now though because in the past i have hardly even gone to the beach at all. Lately i have realized how fortunate i really am, and have been taking every opportunity to go. I mostly just go running on the beach in the evenings when i have time, that has been Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays for me. One day i took my school work with me during my school hours and worked on some of my tan along with some of my education. i admit it was very distracting, but i really enjoyed it. Yesterday after i was done my school work i took my book of Mormon and read for about an hour before i had to get home for mutual. I get around on the buses with my trusty bus pass for transportation. I love my bus pass, my bus pass and i have a very serious relationship, i don't know what i would do without it. It has been the cause of many of my exciting getaways. I think I should give it a name...

Anyways, everything is all good now that Florida weather is back... Running hasn't been so cold anymore, and life continues to go on.

Deleted

I am so sad, i wrote a whole bunch of different entries with pictures about the cruise, It took me three days, and i accidentally deleted it! I'm so sad. I'm just having a hard time getting up the guts to start again. Don't worry though, it will be coming!

New Years Dance

This was our new years dance. I had so much fun! I'm actually surprised i did too. The colors where blue and white, so i threw on my soccer shirt and white pants thinking that would be perfect colors. Ha ha, i was a little wrong for doing that when i got there because i felt very out of place. I was so uncomfortable, but luckily for mom being there she gave me a pep talk about not caring what anyone else thinks and just going and having a blast. She said people watch me and will admire me for that. I'm so glad i made the decision of not caring and just having fun, it really payed off. I was able to really enjoy myself and turn around and experience that could have been really bad and embarrassing! Also, mom encouraged me to go say a prayer on my own somewhere in a different room, so i did, and i am so glad i did because i really felt like that gave me the strength and courage to take on my embarrassing task.
Its funny to me how insignificant it really is as i look at the pictures. i look like i was having tons of fun (which i am), and you wouldn't even know there was a dress code or anything. With a mix of our silly minds, and the adversary, something so small and unimportant can really effect something meant to be good.
I love those testimony building experiences! Church is true!

Personal Progress Auction

All year the young woman have been saving up tokens from doing personal progress, and reading the Book of Mormon. How it worked was for every chapter in the book of Mormon that you read you got a few tokens, and for every person who finished the Book of Mormon , they got so many more tokens, i think that was a big one. then for every experience in our personal progress handbooks, and for every project, we would get so many tokens as well. It was fun to see how well i actually did. i was really surprised to see that i actually did get allot accomplished, and when i look back on all of them, i feel like i have progressed as well . i have to admit i liked seeing my progression in tokens. In all i gained 400 tokens from a years worth of work. i also admit, i could have done allot better than that. my friend Jessica did great, in all she gained about 600 tokens. she completely finished her personal progress book, and she just turned 16. she amazes me! she is going off to college next year when she is finished her grade 12 work (she is home schooled like me), so that's why she was in such a rush to get it done. this year is the year that it got serious for me. its funny cause i looked at the dates of every project and experience that i did, and they all date 2008. My new goal this year is to have 4 values completely finished so i can get caught up to where i should actually be as a laurel, especially because we just had another value added onto the 7 we have, now it is :Faith, Divine Nature, Individual Worth, Knowledge, Choice and Accountability, Good Works, Integrity, And the new one, Virtue. I have only done Faith, so its time to get crackin for me!

Anyway, we had all sorts of fun stuff to bid on, one girl got a little red Ipod shuffle... that was the biggest thing. i got a watch that changes color in the sun, a cute little scripture case one of my leaders made (I totally want to learn how!), a little calender to put beside my bed with temple pictures, Mike and Ike candies, and a bunch of little book marks. it was so fun. our miamaid leader made those little sticks with the circles on the end and a number in them to add the the effect. it was all so cute.
We are going to do this again next year, so it was really good for us all to see how it worked and how much more fun it would have been if we had more tokens to bid with. Now I'm excited for next year to do better, and i think the other young women are too. woohoo!

These were some of the items being auctioned... Now that i look at it, i got that pink poco dotted scripture case, mike and Ike's, calender, and some of the book marks.
